On September 3, 2024, JMC issued its first autumn foliage forecast of the season. The report includes estimated peak viewing dates for red maple leaves and yellow ginkgo leaves at roughly 700 locations nationwide, from Hokkaido to Kagoshima. Additionally, the forecast provides detailed information on expected autumn colors at approximately 2,700 mountains across Japan, categorized by altitude. The next update is scheduled for early October.
